My #75Hard Experience

This takes courage to post, but I everyone likes to see before and after pics. I see stress on the right and strength on the left. It’s not about the chub!

I have never stuck to a diet/ workout plan.

It is true. I always reward myself with a “cheat” meal when I’ve “been so good”.

I always quit when things get hard or something fun comes along.

I have always lied to myself and let myself down.

Then I would feel shame for not being able to stick to it and just go back to life as normal.

Can you resonate with quitting on yourself?

I was in a FUNK last fall! I was sad for our world, mad at the virus, bummed I couldn’t run my business the way I had intended, sad I couldn’t connect in person with my family and biz partners, just sad.

I had gained weight from quarantine comfort food/drinks and I was playing Candy Crush. (If you know me, you know that I am pretty productive, but when I’m playing mind numbing games all of the time on my phone, you know I’m checking out from life.)

I knew I needed to do SOMETHING.

Have you heard of 75 Hard? It is based on a book by Andy Frisella and it is not a diet, not a workout, its a challenge to

DO HARD THINGS

You might be thinking, but it was 2020, everything was hard!! Why do more hard things?

  1. I needed to be disciplined. I was used to making excuses and breaking promises to myself.

When I was singing at a women’s retreat all weekend on the other coast of FL, I still had to get my 2nd workout in when I got home. When I got behind on the water, I stayed up until it was gone. When I wanted a piece of Halloween candy, “just one” wasn’t happening. I had made a promise to my husband (we did this together the whole way) and to myself and

Be careful how you are talking to yourself, because you are listening!

I love this quote! (author unknown)

  2. Life is always going to throw you hard things.

You are not defined by that hard things that have happened to you. You are defined by how you handle them when they happen. So building trust with yourself to do hard things is going to make you so much closer to YOU!

  3. Our mind arrives first

Wellness isn’t really about what we eat or how much we workout. You can use all of the healthy products and be a healthy weight and still be SOOO unhealthy. Your mind is what matters. The perspective you see yourself, your value, your worth, your boundaries for your time, health and resources, they are all what matters. When you do a challenge like this where you are putting in good reading, you push the yuck OUT! A change in perspective is even more powerful than your pant size!
